If black is the color of my true love’s hair, then Black Hoodie Rap is the name of my favorite hip hop sub-genre.It’s also the name of a dope ass new song from producer Maticulous off of his forthcoming LP The Maticulous LP. Dude debuts (for me at least) his beatmaking chops on Black Hoodie Rap. Besides the proverbial boom-bap drums, Maticulous spawns a menacing atmosphere with dark organs and cunning strings. The cymbals also warrant mention. To top it off, he enlists Lil Fame of M.O.P. and Rah Digga. The legendary emcees from Brownsville and Newark respectively make great use of a beat that seems tailor made for their gritty lyrical diction.
