Open Mike Eagle and Paul White just released a new single Check to Check for their upcoming album Hella Personal Film Festival. The song speaks on the oh-so-familiar theme of going back and forth between checking your phone, twitter, and emails. Open Mike Eagle ruptures the stage in terms of his lyrics. I started counting how many times he said “check” but lost count after he said “My laptop don’t sleep/ open and shut case/ I’m checking for mail while it’s checking for updates.” The thunderous clashing of the cymbals and subtle use of the eclectic piano combo in the instrumental by Paul White calls for a repeat listen. Be on the lookout for Hella Personal Film Festival from the LA emcee and UK producer on March 25th via Mello Music Group. Until then, listen to Check To Check after the break.
