Today's selection is an previously unreleased loosie called Couldn't Tell. A dope collaboration between The Roots' very own Philadelphia raised wordsmith Black Thought and Boston producer extraordinaire Statik Selektah. Statik Selektah dropped this unreleased song awhile back on his SoundCloud. The track comes to us from the sessions from his 7th studio album, Lucky 7. The beat gives us a classic hip-hop boom bap sound. At first it seems as though Thought is giving us story of guy meets girl gone wrong, but by the time we reach the second verse the direction has changed. Lyrically of course Thought is always on point and this song is no different. He brings his signature laid back style and great voice to yet another record. Check out the track below and give a listen to Statik Selektah's latest album Lucky 7. Enjoy.
