Listen: Van Go - @mac_padre of @jandoworld

It's been awhile since we've gotten new music from Montclair's favorite duo, Jändō. Van Go is the new joint courtesy Mac (formerly known as MayDay). This DArtizt & Matt Cody produced joint is a nice bouncy song that would serve well as an album cut on their next project.

In fact we haven't heard a full length since their debut Orientation. Van Go dropped about a month ago accompanied with another song, Lights which has Contana (Conway) on it respectively. Mac uses a little pitch correction which I'm normally opposed to. Because his voice is naturaly deep and they didn't pitch it to a T-Pain falsetto, it sounded nice. Whoever mixed it did their thing, salute. Anyways we have all eye son Jändō these days. We'll keep an ear out for the heat whenever it comes. In the mean time turn up to Van Go after the break.

Mayday and Conway still cooking up dope, but it's nice to get new loosies.

Recently they did a freestyle on 100 Freestyle made famous by The Game and Drake. They hold their own as a duo and I like their remake better than the original. Mayday's first verse was impressive and really lets you into his world. His deep voice really makes the song. The production on Hudson was impressive in it's own right. That's nothing new and almost expected at this point for the dope boys. Conway does the track lonesome. His flow really reminds me of Chance the Rapper and his eclectic sounding voice. Hudson is track one on their new three track self titled EP by the name of Hudson, The Eighth Girl.

In the near future we hope to link up with the duo discussing their new album and multiple name changes. We also might do a review on the new project as well. For now, you can listen to 100 Freestyle and their new EP below after the break.

New crack from them dope boys. No pun intended.

D.O.P.E is long overdue for a new project as Foreclosure got pushed back last season. From what I've heard with my own two ears the project is something to look forward to. In the meantime the duo blessed us with Mor(o)less. Per usual the production is superb. They seemed to sample J. Cole's January 28th. Both spitters show their versatility with different styles of flow. Conway almost sounds like Big Sean towards the end of the track. In fact, see for yourself after the break. They say music is the only way to escape time and the timing was perfect.

Depressed, stressed, and fed up of everything going on in our society. Then suddenly out of nowhere this track pops on my soundcloud feed. DOPE drops straight fire on their brand new track CHAKAKHAN. The underlying theme is what's going on with police brutality in this country. Both Mayday and Conway drop a deep verse regarding their thoughts on the matter. "Never been afraid of those handcuffs, cuz nowadays you get slayed with ya hands up..." whoa. Listen for yourself after the break. Feel this.

And all the white girls can suck my what???

I guess you had to be there to understand that line but all and all the event was beyond dopeness. I cannot continue this review without saying this first: Huge shoutout to the first lady of WTM Ashanti Jones. She is the VP of S.A.B.L.E at WPUNJ and the event was completely her doing. I have watched her slave for months and work her behind off to make it the success that it was.

Okay lets begin. Unorthodox but the headliners of the event went first. Striver's Row members Miles Hodges and Alysia Harris tore the stage up. They spit some new pieces were read but they spit some of their own classics like Cab Rides and the Morning After and Harlem. Next up were the promised performers and an open mic. The Hip-Hop SOULcase never had a dull moment. Students from Willy P showed their stuff whether it be poetry, hip-hop or even neo-soul. MotaRaps, Olawumi, D.O.P.E, Khalil Jibran, & Sir Moore kept the crowd entertained throughout. There was nothing but good vibes when they all hit the stage. The crowd really responded to a freestyle by Khalil Jibran and you can see below.

Shortly afterwards, Conway & Mayday (D.O.P.E) got the crowd hype with their live performance of She Likes (off Orientation), and Sir Moore finished off the show with songs of the August Rush EP over the classic Fugees song, Killing Me Softlyinstrumental. All in all, this was a dope showcase and everyone really enjoyed themselves. Keep on the lookout for the next event and clips from this one. Always remember where you heard it first.
