From the Good Life LP to now, Angelo Mota has shown growth as an artist.

Where I see the most change is his beat selection. We can really hear it in his new mixedbyserge produced track three times. It's been a few months since Crystal Avenue released and he's already released a new song featuring dre doso. No idea if this is a loosie or something that didn't make the cut. Perhaps this could be hints of what's to come next. Regardless we can all jam to this new Mota cut below after the break.

Album of the week: Z by SZA

So this week I was messing around on TDE's soundcloud especially after Jay Rock dropped Money Trees Deuce. The very next song was Sobriety by SZA. After listening I imediately revisited Z by SZA. Many may say it doesn't hold the replay value I think it has but I think it takes a really serious dive in to feel this. The tracks that stood out all contained features by some of the hottest emcees out. Examples are Babylon with Kendrick Lamar, Warm Winds with labelmate Isaiah Rashaad, and Child's Play featuring Chance the Rapper. Have you ever just sat down and listened to instrumentals? Me too. There's something about listening to production. If you're anything like me you like listening to just producer's solo projects like Flying Lotus or Statik Selektah. As I said earlier I was surfing soundcloud searching for these two tracks I shazamed (is that a word?) at a show at Rough Trade Brooklyn a few weeks back. If you've ever rode shotgun with me you know I like this genre of music that PYRMDPLAZA and Sam Gallaitry put out. I'd like to see hip-hoppers use these kind of elements in their music one day. Indie track: Alive by Angelo Mota featuring Siimba

A little while ago I touched base on this song so you can read that here. The past week I've revisited it enough to notify you it was in my ears. Production was superb, Mota and Siimba showed out lyrically. Alive is part of Angelo Mota's new project, Crystal Avenue. He's holding his album release show at SOB's tomorrow. It seems like we've covered this guy before, must be for good reason. Angelo Mota recently released his first video off his upcoming LP titled The Good Life slated to release June 21st. The video was shot by Brittney Briggs the founder of Sticks and Stones Productions. We got lucky to get two visuals in one with a shot of Lenscrafters by Mota before the video for Ocean begins. West Orange (see I got it right) emcee Angelo Mota dropped another single off his forthcoming The Good Life LP. This gritty track is titled PIGS produced by Roach P. Mota Raps Interview

Twice as fun, the second go round.

Angelo Mota & Nathaniel Hawkins (founder of Scoob Daily) stop by in studio for the second time on #WTM. This time around was special. Besides our usual state of the hip-hop conversation, we chop it up with the two before the moment of truth arrived. On top of secret spilling and a little bit of question asking we have a few laughs.  Last week, the Sticks & Stones emcee announced his album and a release date on his twitter as seen below.
