New on the WTM Radar is Asbury Park native and KMack artist, Honey Bxby.
She recently released her remix to Touchin, her hit single from her 3 Words, 8 Letters EP that she dropped last year. It's only right that Touchin' got a verse from Busta Rhymes, especially considering it samples his classic, Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See. The remix also got a visual treatment which you can see after the break. Feel this.
Coming off a quiet 2022 Joe College breathes new life into John Blaze.
As far as rollouts go for the CivXSav emcee, it's been mostly quiet but what would you expect coming off a car accident. Fast forward a year and change and Jet Black gets a visual treatment. When John Blaze dropped and you typed in Jet Black on Tiktok or the gram you got blessed with a plethora of beautiful women in asymmetrical bobs, braids, and more lip-syncing the lyrics. College starts the tune with a flow from Prodigy of Mobb Deep but more smooth than rugged this time. This one is for the ladies. Check it out after the break.
The song we know as an upbeat anthem celebrating herself has been given an Orchestral treatment. All of the programmed instruments appear again but in a live arrangement. A beautiful string section of a cello and violins married with the chord progressions of a keyboard pianist reproduce the record as a ballad. Because it's slower, it gives Bairi space to flex her range and modulation with beautiful harmonies behind her in a way we haven't heard before. The candlelit set is also a nice touch, it really does feel like heaven. Check it out below.
Obviously a double entendre for "duality," the album championing his alter egos serves as his most successful release to date peaking at #5 on iTunes charts. One of the standout singles for the Montclair emcee is Go To Work which features verses from familiar names like Blaze, the Rebel and Macc McCray. The trio trade verses cooking in this proverbial kitchen. Samad has always been as talented a spitter as he is in front of the camera with such creative visuals. She came across the timeline by way of a live cover of Session 32 by Summer Walker. What's ironic is this isn't the first time I've listened to her. I first heard her voice on track one of Pregnancy Pack by fellow Houston native, Dende, that dropped at the tail end of 2021. Shortly after a deep dive of her music I came across her last LP, Late Bloom which dropped in 2019. One of the standouts records was a song titled Seasons. Seasons was also blessed with a visual treatment encompassing all the seasons of the year in set design and in wardrobe. Check it for yourself after the break.
Track one, Do or Die starts things off and gets a visual treatment featuring Zig Luve. Deep kick, 808, hi hat snare. The production is gritty without doing too much. Kärma dazzles in the director's seat of her latest visual for Creep 2018. Straight up, the song is nasty so it only makes sense this Homemade film would be too. She taps into two couples to serve as the vixens in this sultry music video. Maybe they couldn't get to the room or couldn't wait to get to the spot. The duo float on this Dopeboyz produced beat. Kaleb shows his versatility sonically with a lush falsetto and smooth vocals throughout. There are not many who sing just as well as they spit. Xavier Omar is as good as advertised, the usual. FOOL is actually a double entendre in the case of this song. The first is as described in the lyrics above. They don't wanna give up on the relationship and assume it's over. The second meaning is an acronym of the last four words of the hook, "Feel Out Of Love." Clever stuff here. This video features a couple going through the nuances of a relationship that's failing. I need you to feel this.
Following up, 3 AM, this is the second single for his upcoming project, From The Heart Vol. 2. Musically, the duo spit about the high risk high reward that is being a black man in this country. It is what it is right? In this Justin LA shot video Chris and Deante take a stroll through the neighborhood talking about their day to day and the life their homies lead. The latest from him is a video for HIS single, NO CONDITIONS produced by MTRSPRT. About a month back or so Alvie and MTRSPRT dropped a collaboration EP, THE DANCE where this is a bonus track for the project. To this point, my favorite track was STICK THE LANDING. This video was shot by Homemade Films. There we see Alvie recalling the end of a relationship in a lower baritone vibration. Feel This.
New to the WTM radar is Kaylee Ameri.
I came across the Newark native during her IG Live interview with RNBaeCollective last week. Host CristaCat and Kaylee talked about her latest video and single, Give It Up. The song has an obvious sample in the classic, The Boy is Mine by 90's R&B Legends, Brandy & Monica. Their recent verzuz battle worked in the singer's favor as she had no idea they were even battling around the same time she dropped her single. Musically, Kaylee flexes many different pockets and flows over an 808 percussion and the flipped harp sample. Her voice is soothing even as she modulates to a falsetto. The girl is talented and we'll be paying closer attention moving forward. For now, check out her new video for Give It Up below.
About a month back, Malkalm dropped a new video for Body On Mine.
Flat out, the song is a bop. It's such a happy go lucky vibe complete with visual. It's music definitely needed for the madness that is 2020. In this Lytehouse Lime produced track, Malkalm hosts (and DJs) a drive-in party. It's been a long time since I seen a video with really great choreography. The jokes fly when the Dj's Serato fails and restarts. All in all, it's a dope video and we'll be looking out for more from Malkalm soon. Check it out after the break.

Macc McCray returns with an awesome visual to his new single, Breathe. Sneakers aside we see Macc navigating what seems to be a world post-Covid crisis. This visual took me back to 2004. While everyone else had Razors, Blackberry's, and Sidekicks, I had the chirp. Not that Boost Mobile joint you had to put minutes on. I had the Nextel plan. Humble times though, my phone had a color LED screen and could surf myspace but no camera to take photos on. Marcus goes back and forth with his lady, Myoohmai in scenes across Brick City.
