You ever see faces and can't put a name to them. For me, this is one of those type of situations.




Poca is a Jersey by way of North Carolina singer-songwriter. I was first introduced to her music at the Unity Day concert in Asbury Park last summer. The Asbury Park Press even has her listed as one of the 8 Jersey Musicians You Need to Know. I do my research, but let's get to the music. Crazy Babe is an old song blessed with a new video treatment and I must say the concept on this was flames. She enlists verses from A1's Apollo and Champ G drops a 16 of his own. The trio take a ride to someone's home armed with ski masks and glocks. What seems like a normal day in (what looks like) Winding Ridge turns for the worse. Watch: TT Story - @ARealCin; A Niles P. Joint

Logic dictates that if you’re a local rapper, your first video will consist of you and your friends hanging out in your neighborhood/hometown. 

Here at WTM, we sift through a ton of videos like that. So when local girl Cin announced that she was making a video for TT Story, I was amped. Coming off of her debut mixtape Just Till I Make It, the track is a cautionary tale of sorts about abusive relationships, along with sexual assault. They're powerful themes that get glossed over by big name artists, so a new artist tackling them is even more impressive.

The song is excellent and being a storytelling track, it doesn’t leave room for a mediocre video. Working with Life’s A Movie, Cin and her A1 clique go all out and cast parts for TT, Blue, and other supporting characters. While Cin plays both parts on the song, the acting in the video is solid and takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotion through TT’s abusive relationship. The viewer will feel naively happy one minute and wearily creeped out the next. The whole team breathed life into what was the staff’s favorite song on the tape. I just hope they keep their promise and continue the story (no spoilers!) at a later date. As for any local emcees watching from the sidelines, be aware. Cin has raised the bar for what a local rap video should be. Step your quality up or get lost. Check the video for TT Story after the break.

Watch: Big Tymin' - @JoeCollege010; A Niles P. Joint

When it comes to Hip Hop, Neptune’s own Joe College has mastered the art of guerrilla warfare.  You never know when he’s going to drop usually until the day of, but you know that it’s going to be quality every damn time.  Such is the case with his new video for Big Tymin’.  Directed by local auteur Life’s A Movie, it depicts an average day in the life of Joe College and the friends.  It’s simple yet effective as Joey never needed a bunch of fireworks and flashy shit to get his point across.  He flows over the classic Bad Boys instrumental by Shyne.  It’s astonishing how thoroughly College pummels the beat in the most casual manner possible.  Dude will let you know how dope he is as a rapper but still be relatable in his lyrics, which is the best paradox possible.  Check out the video after the break.
